Excel 2000

I have Office XP Home Version 2002 and the office package came with the PC -
from Dell.
I cannot open Excel - which has business files in there that I need to
access asap for tax reasons!!!!
Word, Access and Powerpoint are fine. I just can't open Excel. It is asking
me for the installation CD - which I don't have.Wwhen I load it the message
reads the following:

MICROSOFT OFFICE 2000 SR-1 PREMIUM
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk
that is not available.
Insert the Office 2000 SR-1 Premium Disk.

- Then when I OK this message I get the follwing:

ERROR 1706 - No valid source could be found for product Microsoft Office
2000 SR-1 Premium. The windows installer cannot continue.

- Then when I OK this message I get the following:

Problem with Shortcut
Fatal Error during installation

I don't know why this would happen - all the other Office programmes are
working. I can't download any updates - as I get the same message - I need
the disk. It was working the other day.

When going through the help website - I found that I need to restore network
connectivity??

Please advise me how to do this - or give DIRECT instructions to where I can
find the information?

Thank you.
Laura Stephenson.

If your priority is to read the file you might want to download th
reader which will enable to to at least get the information from th
file. Of course you'll still have to overcome the problem if you wan
to edit the file.

Maybe you could try System Restore to return to a time before you ha
this problem?

Hope that helps.
