Excel 2000 quits during startup

Excel 2000 had been working fine on a Dell PC with Windows
98 2nd Edition. Now when it is launched, it hangs and
Windows complains about being low on memory.

Excel can be started in "Safe Mode" on the machine.

Any advice.

I have resolved this problem with Excel not starting up.
It was related to a corrupted "Excel.xlb" file, which
contains the toolbar setttings. On my machine this file
was located in "\Windows\Profiles\Username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel" folder. I renamed it to "Excel.old"
and the problem was resolved.

There are other possible locations for this file. I
suggest you review article number 240150 from the
Microsoft Knowledge Base.
