Excel 2000 prompting for CD upon opening

I've noticed this on a few users' pcs and was wondering
if there is a know cause and fix for the problem:

When a user tries opening an existing spreadsheet, they
get prompted for the Office CD and won't continue without
it. On occasion they will be able to open Excel from the
icon and open a blank spreadsheet, but not always and
they can never open a spreadsheet that they had saved
already.

So far, I've just been inserting the CD to fix it, but it
seems a little odd for this to be happening on multiple
pcs and for users not in the same office as me it can be
difficult to use a CD over the network, so i was hoping
that there was something that could be done remotely to
these machines to get around this problem.

As far as I know, the users aren't doing anything out of
the ordinary (like I said, as far as I know) and I've
tried doing virus scans on the pcs, but nothing ever gets
found.

Gary, I've seen this before. You might want to try re-installing office and selecting:
Custom then Next and select 'Run All from My Computer' under Microsoft Offic

Do this when you're prompted on what install
