Everquest locks up

I have been trying for almost a month to figure out what
is causing my lockups. I have pretty much rebuilt my
computer. Have had it benchmarked and worked on. It runs
great until I log into EverQuest. It locks up with in a
few minutes after I log in. Help Please!! I have run out
of ideas to fix it.

Is EverQuest the only game your having problems with?

It seems to be anything that is 3D intensive. I have
tried virtually everything.

Everything? Would you attach a dxdiag. There been some issues reported
with VIA chipsets in NVidia cards in several folders.

This sounds SOOOO familiar. My son's computer is an AMD
Athlon, with an NVidea card. He recently upgraded to
Windows XP and MSN 8, and hasn't been able to play EQ
since. The latest problem is with lag that keeps
increasing until finally his connection is lost. EQ says
anyone with a 28.8 connection should not be experiencing
this lag, and MSN shows a 44+ connection, so that isn't
the problem. He has good processing speed, plenty of RAM
and a large hd. He's done what Sony/EQ suggested --
disabled virus software and everything that isn't
necessary while he's connected. Could it be the NVidea
care, y'think?
