When I run the Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) and go to Event Viewer (Local) >
System I noticed I have a long list of errors with a Source of Service
Control Manager, Event 7001, and Property > Description of: The Remote
Access Connection Manager service depends on the Telephony service which
failed to start because of the following error: The service cannot be
started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices
associated with it.

As I have no telephone modem installed (I use cable) how do I stop this
error from appearing in Event Viewer - to me it makes no since to have time
wasted checking on this service/event.

In Services (services.msc) I do have Telephony disabled.

Hi Jerry

The Telephony Service needs both the Plug and Plug and Remote Procedure Call
Services running. Are they both running? And the Remote Access Connection
Manager needs the Telephony Serviced to be running!! I use Cable as well,
but you still need the Telephony Service running.

Hi Will,

Why would I need Telephony Service if I do not have a phone modem installed?
Everything works with it disabled, as far as my surfing the web and/or using
OE 6 for e-mail.

Hi Jerry

You have to realise that certain Services are dependent on other Services
running. Disabling the Telephony Service means that the RACM Service won't
run.

But all indications are RACM is unimportant as far as my operating my system
is concerned.

Your comments really make no sense. RACM needs the Telephony service but I
have no telephone modem so why would I need the service in the first place?
