S

Shel

Dell Dimension 9100
Win XP Home SP3 with all second Tuesday updates.

Event Viewer (System) shows an Event 7001 Error every time I start the
computer. I Googled Error 7001, but did not find a solution.

Any help will be appeciated.

Please post a copy of the Error Report appearing in the System or
Application logs in Event Viewer.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Thanks Gerry and Leonard.

From Event Viewer Error Properties:

"The Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service service depends on
the Universal Plug and Play Device Host service which failed to start
because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or
because it has no enabled devices associated with it."

Select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Right click
on the Universal Plug and Play Device Host service and select
Properties. Check that the Start Up type is set to Manual. It should not
be set to disabled.
