Event viewer not showing events anymore...

Recently, my event viewer has stopped showing any events for the last
few days, either under Application or system panes. This has not
happened before. I am running XP SP2.

Check the status of the Event Log service. This service supposedly
can't be stopped. Go to Start => Run and type in
"services.msc" {without the quotes}. Maximize the window the Event Log
service should exist and be set to Automatic.

Also check the startup services in Start => Run and type in
"msconfig" {without the quotes}. Look under the Services tab and make
sure this service exists and its box is checked.

Thanks for the reply, I had already checked in "services" and it does
exist and is set to automatic. I then checked "msconfig" under
services and its box is checked.
Any other suggestions please?

Hello again,

In the Event Viewer are no logs showing at all in all categories -
Application, System, etc.?
At the top of the Event pane on the right, does it show a number of
events, yet none are showing?

Either way, right-click on each Event type (Application, System, etc.)
and check the Properties that it is set up correctly to record events,
and the log file size isn't set to zero.

If all looks OK, right-click again and select to 'Clear all events'.
If that doesn't fix the problem after you've waited sufficient time
for an event to be logged, you could try this fix:

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...t+Viewer"+"no+events"&rnum=1#10cc43fa58bfc297

I realize it's Windows 2000, but the method is the same.

Luck!
