Event Viewer

I need help When I check Event Viewer I am getting tones of error message
under Application;
The Event ID 1041.
When I go to properties this is what I get.
Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for
{CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and it will not be loaded. This is
most likely caused by a faulty registration.

Operation system is XP Pro Using IE7
Thanks

Release Notes for Internet Explorer 8

"Events displayed in Event log after uninstalling Internet Explorer 8 on
Windows XP SP2 or SP3

If you view the Event log in Windows XP SP2 or SP3 you might see event
ID 1041 from Userenv after uninstalling Internet Explorer 8

The message will be "Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for
{7B849a69-220F-451E-B3FE-2CB811AF94AE} /
{CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and it will not be loaded. This
is most likely caused by a faulty registration."

The cause is that some of the Internet Explorer 8 registry keys were not
removed when it was uninstalled. These keys do not affect the operation
of Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 7.

To resolve this error, delete the following registry keys:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\GPExtensions\]

{7B849a69-220F-451E-B3FE-2CB811AF94AE} = Internet Explorer User Accelerators

{CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} = Internet Explorer Machine
Accelerators"

Was the answer to your first post somehow deficient?

I just had someone contact me because they couldn't find the "last two"
keys to remove in the referenced KB here.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The KB and KB data copied here says to delete 2 (TWO)
things, NOT 3 (THREE)!!

Do NOT delete
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\GPExtensions\]
Just GO TO that location!

And THEN delete the TWO KEYS from THAT location! Fortunately this
person had the good sense to save the ...GPExtensions to a .reg file on
disk so it was easy to recover it. Now I'm wondering how many other
people have made that same mistake but hadn't saved the data out to a
..reg file first.
Just thought I'd mention it for those who aren't yet aware of
precisely what Hives, Keys, Data and Value really are in the registry.
All caused by another MS release of Alpha level, not even BETA level
IMO, code as production level code.

I posted that link to the article to TC yesterday (with registry
backup instructions) and encouraged him to keep the thread info in the
group!

I asked but never got an acknowledgement of any IE8 history.

It sounds like it is "sorted" as they say...

Yeah; it was a lot simpler when Gibson's "decombobulator" was all you
needed, wasn't it? I didn't realize it, but according to one MS KB I
found today, XP SP2 supposedly took care of those issues. Couldn't
prove it by me, though it does look like IE8 resurrected it permanently
somehow unless you know it's there. Good info, actually.
