Event Viewer Error Messages

TC

In the last weeks, I have been getting a error message . This occurs under
Event Viewer Application
The Event is 1041.
Here is what it says it is:

Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for
{CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and it will not be loaded. This is
most likely caused by a faulty registration.

Can someone please help me. Does this hurt my system. How do I stop this
error message. Or correct the error.
Thanks

Leaving aside the message from Event Viewer, are you experiencing a
problem with your computer?

What is your Internet Explorer situation?

What version of IE are you running now?

Have you ever installed/uninstalled IE8 or any IE8 betas?

This looks like IE8 refuse.

TC - let's keep the discussion in the group to maybe help others!

I find any unexplainable error in the event log annoying.

You said you are running XP Pro and IE7, but did not say if you (or
someone else) have ever installed/uninstalled any IE8 release (or
BETA) in the past.

This registry entry belongs to IE8 and there is probably another one
to go with it. It happens when you uninstall IE8.

Here is a nice MSDN article about it:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/dd441788.aspx

You want to roll down to the section:

Events displayed in Event log after uninstalling Internet Explorer 8
on Windows XP SP2 or SP3

Using a method of your choice, you should backup your registry first.
There are no undo or quit without saving options with regedit. It is
safe if you are careful. Here is a reliable free registry backup
program:

http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

Read the MSDN article, see if you have the errant registry keys and
delete them. When you are done, reboot your machine and check the
event log again, or go through whatever activities you think would
generate the error and see if it is fixed.

Please report back.
