Event viewer not logging

I have recently updated my Win 2K Server to SP4. Since
then my event viewer does not work. It will not log
anything. It says I have 1,232 events but nothing appears
on System, Application, etc. Does anyone know how to fix
this? I installed SP4 on an identical server and this is
not a problem???? Thanks in advance.

Also if you have increased the size of the event logs via group policy you
must clear them for the new size to become effective.

Greetings Sykes,

Generally, this is due to the size limit - if you fill up
the log without clearing out the oldest, the Event Viewer
shows a blank page whilst reporting umpteen events.

Right click on the log and go to Properties - verify that
the maximum size is, for example, 512k and then click the
box that says "Overwrite as needed".

You will have to clear the log then it will start working.

A worse alternative is that it is caused by Blaster
stopping the SVCHOST rpc service - but I'm sure that your
network is protected ??!!
