Windows XP event prompt not working anymore with audio cds

Hi,
I have a problem when I put an audio cd into the computer (win xp sp2).

The event prompt used to come up asking what action I would like to take, but now all that happens is that a window pops up with the files shown as .cda but the event viewer is gone.

This could have happened a long time ago as I have not played cds on it for a while but it is annoying as I like the event prompt.

Can anyone help please ?

P.S. the event prompt works for all other media (pen drives, external hard drives .etc), just not with audio cds. Thanks.
