event order in event log

In the system log on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server (sp4) the default
ordering of events has about 20 events from 10/17/2004 among events from
2/6/2005. Obviously sorting the events by date corrects the problem. What
is odd is that if I run uptime /s /v against the server, there is a
10/17/2004 boot event which is listed after reboot/shutdown events that occur
in 12/2004, 1/2005 and 2/2005. The tail end of the log is below. This
ordering is throwing off uptime calculations for SQLH2 reports and uptime
apparently.

Any insights would be appreciated.

1/30/2005 11:41:39 PM Shutdown Prior uptime: 43d 10h:8m:41s
1/30/2005 11:47:04 PM Boot Prior downtime: 0d 0h:5m:25s
2/6/2005 12:37:38 PM Shutdown Prior uptime: 6d 12h:50m:34s
10/17/2004 8:05:37 PM Boot
2/6/2005 1:31:29 PM Shutdown Prior uptime: 111d 18h:25m:52s
2/6/2005 1:36:27 PM Boot Prior downtime: 0d 0h:4m:58s
2/6/2005 1:52:33 PM Shutdown Prior uptime: 0d 0h:16m:6s
2/6/2005 1:57:24 PM Boot Prior downtime: 0d 0h:4m:51s
2/6/2005 2:07:19 PM Shutdown Prior uptime: 0d 0h:9m:55s
2/6/2005 2:12:06 PM Boot Prior downtime: 0d 0h:4m:47s
2/6/2005 2:26:45 PM Shutdown Prior uptime: 0d 0h:14m:39s
2/6/2005 2:31:33 PM Boot Prior downtime: 0d 0h:4m:48s

This issue has been resolved. The system had a new system board installed,
so the system booted with the date as 10/17/2004. It looks like Win2K
follows NT4 in that event viewer displays events in the order they are
written to the log, not chronological order. See PSS 229989.
