When I used recovery and set my computer back a few days the icon was gone.
Today when I turned on it was back :( A picture of it can be seen at this
link:

http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?action=viewAllPhotos&albumID=498063325

Here is the list of my tasks running, thanks for help-someone asked to
review it for possible problems.

It looks like this is probably coming from your wireless network adapter
software:
xpfix.exe c:\program files\wireless 802.11g
monitor\xpfix.exe

You can do clean-boot troubleshooting to make sure:

Clean boot in Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

Clean-boot advanced troubleshooting in Windows XP -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316434

and How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP -

Everything else looks normal. Because you didn't post this to your
original thread, I don't know what you've done to scan for malware.
Although it probably isn't necessary, here are general malware removal
steps in case you haven't done any scanning :

What's frustrating is I can right click it left click it etc and it wont
acknowledge the clicks. Can't see properties for it or anything- it won't go
away :( Thanks Dorothy

Then, as I suggested, do clean-boot troubleshooting and then you'll know
for certain what it is.

Dorothy,
Malke has you on the right track for finding out what that icon is for.

In general, non-responsive tray icons are a clue that the program the icon
belongs to is in trouble. It could be a problem with the icon's software
(buggy version that needs updating or damaged install that needs repairing)
or it may not be working correctly because there is a conflict with that
program and another startup program.

To find out what that icon is for - you need to follow Malke's advice.

When you determine what the icon is for, you then need to decide if it is
software you need or not. If no, uninstall it. If yes, Malke's advice will
again come in handy in determining the cause of the trouble that the
program is experiencing.

Thank you for the courteous reply. I will have to wait for my grandson and
hope he can figure it out. Last time I tried fixing things I made them
worse. Again thanks :) Dorothy
