source: Service Contrlo Manager
Type: Error
Event ID: 7000
description:
The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it
has no enabled devices associated with it.

The error does not appear to be affecting the day to day running of my
machine but it means i cannot run dskdfg and its a little anoying that it
runs chkdsk every time i turn the pc on then it reboots and starts normally.

i am running two maxtor 120GB disks on the Promise fasttrack controller as a
raid 0 confiuration.

I would suggest you try cCleaner.
http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp
http://www.ccleaner.com/

With any cleaner you need to proceed with caution. I invariably
recommend creating a restore point before using cCleaner.
cCleaner also offers backup before removal.

When using cCleaner think twice before checking before
Autocomplete Form History under Internet Explorer.
You do get a warning but this one has irritating consequences.

Then try chkdsk.

If that doesn't work try HD Tune (freeware).
Download and run it and see what it turns up.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on C:\ under Drive letter
and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message.

Also do a full surface scan with HD Tune.

Hope this helps.

Why can't you run defrag? Defrag reports dirty files?

See the link above.

If you have no parallel port or if the parallel port is disabled in your
BIOS you may get the Event ID: 7000.

If you have no parallel port or if the parallel port is disabled in your
BIOS and you have nothing hooked up...
See TomF's reply here.

well i did what you said and that ccleaner managed t churn up a lot of rubish
that it promply removed and caused no issues but has not resolved the problem

i tried the HD tune did a surface scan that was clean but due to the fact i
am running the disks on a raid setup it was not interested in giving me any
health info and i cant find any two page icon.

well i just looked at the event log and its bristling with some exiting new
errors(its grinding itself to pieces)

we got lots of EVENT ID 9 sourced at the fasttx2k all from when i was
running the surface scan and they started appearing looking athe times when
it was about half way through the scan

we also have some warnings for the disk coming with an EVENT ID 51

the wrapping is starting to peel off this problem will get back if i find
anything else or if i sort it

Post copies of the Event Viewer Reports.

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System and
Application logs for when the error occurs and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.
