Ethernet Controller

I had to rebuild system and did not have driver disk. I downloaded the NIC
drivers and the NIC adapter installed according to Device Mgr; however, the
Ethernet Controller still shows uninstalled and I can't connect to the Inet.
I was under impression, maybe wrongfully so, that installing the NIC drivers
also set up the EC.

Was I mistaken because I can't find any drivers on Gateway web site labeled
EC or anything relating to EC.

TIA

You need drivers for all your hardware - the chipset (motherboard),
ethernet, sound, video, etc. If you didn't install the chipset drivers, do
so. Make sure you get the correct drivers for your specific model machine
from Gateway's site, too. It sounds like you haven't got the right ones
installed or you would have Internet access.
