establishing DSN on Shared Hosting site

Does FP 2003 allow the direct entry of a DSN? If you are on a Shared Hosting site, the web server admin will not allow FrontPage to display the server data sources so you can select the one you setup.

In these situations, I create the System DSN on the hosted site via a
control or via the host tech support, then using the same name for the
database and connection, etc, then I use the FP database option to create
the global.asa file locally with the required connection info. Then after
publishing open the live site in FP, and check/verify the connection.

Problem is I have XP at home and don't have MS Personal Server to be able to setup the DSN on my desk top

Why don't you use a dsn-less connection instead?

You still can create a System DSN without having a web server on your local
machine and FP should be able to connect to it, the part regarding FP, I
haven't tried.

I have a purchased shopping cart from Salescart that will not work in IIS6 without defining the data connection as a DSN. My host went to IIS6 on Friday and my site has not worked since!
