In the past few days, my system has begun some strange and frustrating
behavior. Windows Explorer is crashing often -- freezing while copying
files, or while opening a folder/window. Generic Host Process is also
crashing frequently. I went to do a System Restore tonight -- and all my
restore points are gone!! I used it just yesterday, and there were a number
of them in there.

System Restore seems to lose all its restore points every couple of weeks.
Tonight I went through the Event Monitor, and there are a LOT of System
Restore errors. Example:
--------------------------------------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: sr
Event Category: None

Also in the event viewer are a number of other errors (these are all within
a half-hour timeframe; there were many more earlier today):

It really sounds like your computer is experiencing hardware failures.
You can do some hardware troubleshooting yourself, but it might be
better to simply call Gateway tech support.
