Error with Epson USB Printer; Poss Windows USB Hub Prob?

Good afternoon.
I installed an Epson CX6600 USB printer onto a Win2K machine at a
(slightly) remote location. It's worked fine for weeks, then it stopped.
It's acting like theirs no USB communication. Print jobs die with a generic
error (sorry, haven't written down the code), even simple things like a test
page. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, bu the install
program doesn't detect anything.
It's not a bad cable, and I don't think it's on the printer. I brought
a Win2K laptop out to it and got it working.
I'm guessing there's a problem with the Windows USB root. I should
bring a USB mouse out to it and check. Can anyone tell me how to reinstall
this component? Do I need to do a soft Windows reinstall?
Thank you!

Just go into Device Manager and delete the USB Controllers (ensure nothing
is connected to it first)...

then reboot the PC. Windows should reinstall it automatically.
