when I try to reply to a message in outlook 2003 I get
the error.

ACOutCom

Any help will be good help on this. I have 5 users with
the same issue.

Just to let anyone else who has this issue know, I got
the error message to go away. I went into the options and
unchecked the box that uses microsoft word as an editor.
A fix that would allow me to use word as an editor would
still be nice.

thanks

The ACOutCom error occurs because you are using an ActivCard smartcard
reader, Outlook, and using Word as your email editor. There is a conflict in
the built in Outlook certificate support and the ActivCard software. Disable
the unnecessary Outlook Security Icons in ActivCard and the error goes away:

To get rid of the "ACOutCom
Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
Method '~' of object '~' failed" error:

1) Insert your SmartCard into the ActivCard reader.

2) Open up ActivCard Gold Utilities (Right click on the ActivCard Icon
running in the bottom right hand corner of your screen (next to the clock)
and choose OPEN -or- Go to Start/Programs/ActivCard Gold/ActivCard Gold
Utilities)

3) Go to Tools/Local Policies

4) Scroll down to the "Add Outlook Security Icons in the compose e-mail
window" policy. Click "Properties". Choose the "Disabled" setting, and choose
OK.
