error when reinstalling windows

I've been having a lot of problems with windows lately, and I wanted to
reinstall it and start all over.

I've used the system recovery disk that came with windows before and never
had problems with it.

However, this time, when I booted the computer from the disk, and system
recovery booted up, I got an error stating "This function needs the
SoftThinks USB unlock key. Please insert the key." It never came with a
key, and I haven't needed a key in the past. Once I close that message
window, system recovery shuts down and windows boots up as before, without
reinstalling.

I'm using the same computer that windows XP was installed on, and I've tried
all the Help and Support menus I could find within windows, as well as on the
web-site.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
