Error when importing to Outlook from Excel

I'm now using my new computer with Windows XP. I created a small excel file
(3 rows and 15 columns) to test the "export to outlook feature" or "import
from excel". I believe I named the range correctly. but when I try to
import, I get the following message:

"An ODBC error has occured in the Microsoft Excel translator while opening a
file to build a field map. (Microsoft)(ODBC Excel Driver) Too many fields
defined."

I previously used Outlook 2000 and you didn't have to name fields. Can you
only import one line at a time?!!! What am I doing wrong.

What information are you trying to import? Have you tried typing in one or
two entries of the type you are trying to import, export those to Excel and
comparing the results to your file you are trying to import?
