Error Upgrading to XP

I am trying to install WindowsXP SP2 Upgrade onto my Gateway2000 G5-233.

At the end of the install during reboot, the error message states

"an unexpected error (0) on line 1773 d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\arcdisp.c."

Press any key to continue.

What does this mean and how do I solve this problem.

The only thing I've been able to find is it's possibly related to memory,
perhaps a memory error, a bad memory stick.

Also, given the age of the system, it might be helpful to have your system
specs, processor, how much memory, hard drive size and free space, have you
added memory, what operating system was on the computer before and are you
upgrading over that or installing clean, are you attempting to set up a dual
boot with your previous os or are you installing directly over it?

Before you began the installation, did you run the upgrade advisor. If not,
I suggest you return to your previous setup, place the XP CD in the drive,
when the setup screen appears select "Check System Compatibility."

Youre post mentions d: do you have xp set up on d:,and/or are 2 hds on-line
during xp installation? You need to install the os with only one drive
connected,
also,if only one is connected during installation, then xp is getting
asigned d:
instead of C: which it should be by default.
