error report with WebCT

C

Carol

I'm taking an online class through the WebCT program.
I've just bought a new computer and have no problems,
except: I can log into the class, but cannot access any
links. Any time I clink on a link an error report box
comes up and kicks me out of Internet Explorer.

Start by checking Event Viewer. Go to Control Panel, open Administrative
Tools, open Event Viewer, look for errors that correspond to when the event
happened, since this has apparently happened more than once, there should be
several, double click one of the errors, the information contained within
may give clue as to the source of the problem.

You might have some spyware on your system that is the culprit as well. Go
to www.lavasoftusa.com, download and install Ad Aware, run it and see if it
turns up anything as that could be the source of the issue.

Check to be sure your drivers are up to date, especially for your graphics
card and soundcard. Regardless of how new the PC might be, the drivers
might well be dated as there's no way of knowing how long the PC was in the
warehouse or on the shelf and no way of knowing how long the manufacturer
had the various devices on the shelf before installing in the PC and drivers
are updated frequently. It's not unusual to have to update drivers on a new
PC.

Also, to play safe, you might want to run a virus scan as well.
