shield appeared, and informed that firewall is off. After that whenever I try
to change the setting amessage appears "Due to an unidentified problem,
windows can not display windows firewall settings". Please helpe me to solve
this.

Hello jockey.

You mention a shareware game from a CD (may be you got this CD from a
magazine) so as you instaled the game , it is likely to be bad because this
way you can probably have installed a trojan hourse or spyware or any other
malware(malicious software) .

Hopefully the game isn't infection so remove it from Add/Remove programs in
Control Panel . Then aslo check for any tracks left in C:\Program files and
remove them .

Now , do a System Restore .
Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore

Restore the computer to a state before you installed the game .

Now , if this doesn't correct the problem , check your computer for malware
(that might be from internet or from the shareware game) .

Start -> Settings- > Control Panel -> Internet Options

There ,on the General Tab you will see where you can delete
• internet temporary files
• cookies
• history
Delete them all.

Now , visit http://www.activescan.com
and perform full scan with Panda's free ActiveScan where you can check your
PC for ALL kind of threats. The scanner allows you to save the report after
the scan is finished so save the report (it is basic TXT file) on your
Desktop and then post the report here so we can see if you have malware and
will advise you how to remove it so everything will be fine again ! :)
