Error prompt for Target designer, File/Import...

Target designer (also component designer) prompts "Error while enumerating
registered WXPE plug-ins" when click File/Import...

after click "OK", it prompts "An inernal error occured while loading the
Import Manager module". Then the open file dialog box did not show up.

I searched the internet and found a few guys also had this problem, but no
solution yet...

My OS is win2000 professional with sp4. windows script host v5.6 was
installed.
During I install XPe toolkit with sp2, no error happened. I even reinstalled
the toolkit and still has the problem.

This error may related to the importfw.dll and imprtinf.dll files inside
"\Program Files\Windows Embedded\bin\ folder. I manually re-registered these
2 files, still same.

thanks for any help...

Hey Thomas, I am also having this same problem. I am using Windows XP
Professional though. I am going to try a full uninstall/reinstall, but am
hoping for an easier solution before I try that. Did you ever get the
problem resolved?

Hi, Paul,
The even worse thing is that, I had tried full uninstall/reinstall and the
problem remains. You can try to confirm this and share your results with me.

An consultant from http://wecomasia.com/ suggested me to manually register
all files under C:\Program Files\Windows Embedded\bin\. I did it using
regsvr32.exe successfully but still had the problem. But when I registered
the importfw.dll file using a third party program -Emsa Dll Register Tool, it
prompted error:
"dll registration failed - component category registration may have failed."
this file is the import framework library. I don't know whether this is the
cause yet.

A good news is that, I got rid of the problem on another PC, also W2K SP4.

Best regards,

Thomas

I did a complete unintstall/reinstall and am still having the same problem.
I will probably try contacting Microsoft next to see if they are any help,
I will let you know what the results are
