Error opening or copying Excel File

I have a disk which I received from someone outside my
office. The disk contains xls and WQ1 files. When
attempting to copy the disk I get the following error on
one of the excel files.
"SUSAN.xls cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only,
or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or,
the server the document is stored on may not be
responding." (Filename is the xls file) I then tried to
copy the file from the disk to my desktop and also
attempted to attach it to email. When I tried that i get
error "Cannot copy SUSAN: Error performing inpage
operation". Does anyone have any idea what this problem
is? Unfortunately, I can't contact the person who gave me
the original file and ask them to re-copy it for me. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like the file on the floppy is corrupted. Try some file
recovering utilities (e.g. Norton). If this does not help you probably
need a new copy/disk

Note: Never try to open a file directly from a floppy disk :-)
