Error On USB Disconnect

R

Richard

When I use the Safe Removal Of Hardware to remove
a USB drive it tells me it is safe to remove but before
I can remove it I get the following error:

"shel32.dll,Control_RunDLL.hotplug.dll"

An a error to be sent to Microsoft error. I have had
no problem with any of my device which I connect
and disconnect on a regular basis. I am running
XP SP2 on an Acer desktop.

Thanks
Richard

In your "device manager":
click on "view" menu item > show hidden devices
scroll down, double-click on "storage volumes"

The first 4 volumes should be the card readers, You will see that by right
clicking the volume and click properties, on the "Location:" you will see if
its for SM, MS, CF, or SD card. On the last volumes (2), right click < Update
driver... let the drivers update.

Ray,

Thanks for the quick reply. When I went under Storage Volumes
here is what I found: six volumns the first five where titled Generic
Volume and the sixth was titled Generic VolumeH.

Under properties I found the following:

Generic Volume 1 - WD CR HS-CF USB DEVICE
Generic Volume 2 - WD CR HS-5-IN-1 USB DEVICE
Generic Volume 3,4,&5 and Generic VolumeH (All were) - Volume Manager

Which of these should I update the driver on?

Thanks
Richard
