i cannot send a mail it is telling that account b; server b; protocol smtp
port;25,secure(ssl);no,Soket Error 11001,Error number;0x800ccc0d
how can i change it i know that i wrote b but i dont know how to change it

b is not a valid server name. When you get the proper server name,
probably from your email provider, click on Tools, then Accounts,
then account b, then Properties, then Servers. Click at the end of the
server name you want to change, then backspace over it, then type
the correct server name, then click Apply. If you need to change the
other server name, do it the same way. Click on OK, then Close.

Your mail provider will have online instructions for how to set up
email, including the correct server name. Who is your email provider?

My error message is:
The host 'smtp.tool.sky.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Server: 'smtp.tool.sky.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 11001, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0D

The 'only' thing I have not tried is to uninstall my (McAfee)
antivirus/firewall, in case that is holding back my ability to send.
Receiving is no problem in my Windows Mail. The problem was not always there.
It came up a couple of weeks ago.

What is your advice?

Thanks, John Forbat

Change the outgoing server name to smtp.tools.sky.com
(instead of smtp.tool.sky.com).

Dear Gary,

Did you see my reply of 30 April, giving the full text of the error message?

Since then, I uninstalled my McAfee programs to see if they were impeding
the sending of Emails from Windows Mail, but NO, no difference. I have of
course reinstalled McAfee. I am still able to receive, but not send with
Windows Mail.

By the number of similar pleas and complaints on this site, it seems that
there is a fundal problem with Windows Mail/VISTA, which only Microsoft could
possible cure. If I correctly understand your Microsoft title, you should be
advise me - hopefully indicate what is being done at Microsoft, to cure the
problem.

I would really appreciate an answer - perhaps direct to me at
(e-mail address removed).

Thanks,

Robert,

To Robert Miles: Your comment, not to install the Google tool bar just
caught my attention. The Windows Mail problem did appear to come with the
time when Sky began to use Google in its website. However I don't think I had
any option but to install this Google tool bar along with the Sky set up.

Do you have any comments?

Glory Alleluyah! I didn't know that my setting was not already with the word
tools - yes it was tool - which now changed cured the problem.

What you shouldn't install is the Google Toolbar program, which the website
offering Adobe Reader offers to you. Having Google available in a website
isn't a problem; I've had it available on my home page for at least a year
with
no problem.

I'm surprised you did not see my response when it was posted,
quite a while back.

Dear all,

I faced the same problem with vista and found the solution in a french
workgroup and,.....it works.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I
try to translate:
1- go to C:\Windows\System32\ cmd
2- right click and Run as Administrator
3- then copy paste netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
then enter
4- wait for OK
5- close the window and try to connect to windows live messenger, windows
mail,etc...

It should work.

Good luck.

Gérard
