I installed a Windows service pack today and since that time I can't download
my e-mails. I originally got error message 0X800CCC0E with the same
information I am getting now. Which is:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity.
Acct: mail.myclearwave.net
Server: mail.myclearwave.net
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure (SSL): No
Error Number: )x800CCC0F

(The original error message *0X800CCC0e) also listed Socket Error: 10060)

Any suggestions? Think the Windows update caused the problem?

Thanks!

Never mind! Persistence paid off and I've successfully gotten my e-mails!
Thanks anyway!

If the problem returns, let us know which antivirus you are running.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
