Error moving / deleting messages out of inbox

I have three mail messages over the past two weeks that will not open or
delete or move from inbox after I tried to move them. Any ideas how I can get
rid of them? I simply get "message cannot be displayed" and "An unknown error
occured"...

windows mail keeps the email in 2 ways

in the folder C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail (change
user for what your name is

there is a file called WindowsMail.MSMessageStore

also there are individual files in the folder
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders

with windows mail not running if you delete the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore

then goto "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders"
and delete the offending email when you restart window mail it will rebuild

the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore

there nay be more than one WindowsMail.MSMessageStore file

this worked for me when I had emails stuck in my outbox what I think happens
is if you force windows mail to shut the db file becomes corrupt

if you are not sure rename the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore files and delete
the offending files from
"C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders"

That older method is now deprecated.
Use the newer Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090
"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a
computer that is running Windows Vista"

Although Outbox is the only folder mentioned, it will remove stuck
messages from all folders.

Mr. VanderMolen as one of the best hints available online. It's solved my
mom's concerns and problems towards Windows Mail!

Hooray for Gary!!!

Thanks for the info that it will remove stuck messages from all folders. I
downloaded kb941090 but when I tried to run it it came up with this:
Windows update standalone installer
Installer encountered and error: 0x80073afc
The resource loader failed to find MUI file.

What do I do now???

The only suggestion I could find online is to reboot your system a
couple of times, and then try the install again.
