After when I updatedted the Internet Explorar (On line) I
can't run the outlook express.

There are two error messeges.

Messege (1)

"Outlook express could not be started. The application
was unable to ope the outlook express messege store. Your
computer may be out of memory or your disk is full.
Contact Microsoft support for further assistance".
Error code - 0x80040154, 2
(I have more free spaces in my Hard disk)

Messege (2)

"Outlook express could not be started because MSOE.DLL
could not be initialised. Outlook express may not be
installed correctly".

Please advice me.

Thanks.
Diluk Priyantha.

The same thing happened to me. Now I'm in a terrible loop.
Outlook won't launch. Outlook Express won't launch. I've
had to create a mail account in Netscape in order to get my
mail off my ISP server!! This all started happening after
downloading a service pack from Microsoft. I've tried
running 'repair' options from the original W2K Pro CD. Now
my 'updates' are apparently out of date and my efforts to
re-update my repair version keep failing. Am I stuck with
reimaging my machine or does some wizard out there have the
answers. Help!!!

If you changed the ProgramFilesDir value in the following registry key
prior to installing the update modify your shortcuts to point to the
correct location.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
ProgramFilesPath | REG_EXPAND_SZ | %ProgramFiles%

And if that does not solve the problem I suggest that you post in an
OLEXP newsgroup. If you are posting from the Microsoft Communities Web
Page the link below will load the Microsoft Product Support Newsgroups
Home Page. Once the page is loaded you will find the Outlook Express
newsgroups under the topic: Internet Technologies | Internet Explorer

I would reinstall either ie5.5 or 6. outlook is a part of ie. Be sure
to search for and save your .dbx (in-out-sent etc. boxes), .wab (add
book) , and .iaf (internet account file) before and replace them in
the fresh install.

Find a full download on the net, hope you got cable its quite big

Thanks, but I tried reinstalling and the doesn't solve the
problem. Now all of my Office apps (Outlook is part of
Office -- Outlook Express is part of IE) will not launch.
It all started with downloading the recent automatic
updates. I have now run the Repair utility on the W2K CD.
This reverts my system (apparently) to a pre-update state,
yet it will not now let me update anything or remove
anything so that I might re-install programs. It says my
CD is 'not valid'. Well, it came straight from Microsoft!!
I believe my only option now is to reimage. I've saved all
of the .pst, .ost, .dbx, .pab, etc. files so no problem
there. But this seems a radical 'fix' for an "innocent"
patch problem. McAfee went off screaming I had "Alexa"
after the update also.

I'm rapidly losing my enchantment with the world of
technology.

Thanks for your help.
