Hi ...

I've been building a couple of access 2003 databases and lately on my forms
and now reports, I keep getting messages that there isn't enough memory to
execute this command ... I am forced to shut down without saving and
therefore I loose everything I've done up to this point ... so ... currently,
I'm creating backups of my main form and reports every 15 minutes ... anyone
know what this is?? Very frustrating!!

Have you Compacted the database? Do you have all Access updates and service
packs installed? How big is the database file?

Access Data Projects allow you to use your existing forms and
reports-- in whichever way you want--but they free you from the dead
weight of Jet

you're fighting the same old bug (corruptions) that made me run from
Jet a decade ago

Why don't you keep running, until we can't see you any more?

Just note that Aaron's contributions to this group over the past several years
have been exclusively attacks (often profane and insulting) on JET and on
those who advocate it, and a one-answer-fits-all-questions "use SQL/Server and
ADP". I've not seen any posts from him giving specific help. It will be
interesting to see if he makes an exception here.

yes, you can still design in this format.

File, New, Project (new database)
Point to a SQL Server instance.. and then import your tables one at a
time.. or just run the upsizing wizard under tools, database
utilities, upsizing wizard.

be sure to choose the client / server option because that's the most
efficient way to use MS Access (and SQL).

the linked table approach-- I just don't think that it's competitive.

then you can build views / sprocs.. that actually do more than one
thing.

and different users can have different copies of the same object..

SQL Server is just a much better platform for all users.

In the past decade, SQL Server has gone from 10 to 50% marketshare--
there are many places that state that -- by seat-- there are twice as
many SQL Server users than Oracle users (and SQL Server is a much
friendlier solution).

I'd reccomend Access 2002/2003 with SQL 2000.. or Access 2007 with SQL
2005.. sorry.. thats just the best way to do it for now (until they
come out with those patches that they have been promising to us)
