Error messages!

It seems 75% of the time when I try to access my control panel or my
documents or the recyle bin, windows encounters an error and closes. What can
I do? This is very frustrating!
 
I am having an identical problem after installing Windows XP today. Cannot
access control panel. Can anyone help?
