I use IE7, XP - 2G Ram, Intel Core 2 Comparatively new system

I get an error message on start-up that a certain program (stamps.com)
cannot find mfc80.dll, msvcp80.dll, and msvcr80.dll . Is this meaningful?

Thanks

forceten32,

Can you get the program to run? If not, you'll probably need to install the
above .dll files to get the program to work.

These can be downloaded using the following link - just copy and paste the
..dll name into the search box and away to go:

http://www.dll-files.com/

Hope this helps

%Windir%\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.42_x-ww_0de06acd
it should contain these three files: msvcr80.dll, msvcp80.dll and msvcm80.dll
You can Copy them from that Path to the following for
C:\Program Files\Application or where it needed by whichever application
asking for them.
Or you can copy them from another machine to the problematic machine ( the
other machine should have the same Operating system).
Also check fo Bad RAM by testing your Memory from here:
http://www.memtest.org

The program seems to be working without the .dll's. My question was
prompted by Norton Win Doctor returning an error saying that program was
looking for those files.

I recently downloaded the program to stamp and label packages for a small
business. I haven't fully ridden the program yet but thus far all seems ok.
Should I let well enough alone or install the dll's to avoid potential
problems?

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Nass -

I went to memtest.org. The site presupposes a certain amount of knowledge
from those visiting. My experience with testing has been, click on a link
and the program runs the test. Here there are several options without
telling you how to run what is downloaded - or to download onto a cd or the
hard drive. (I did download WinImage to read .iso.)

Arbitrarily, I chose 'pre-compiled bootable ISO.zip' and downloaded.
Received: "There is no visible file here. Memtest86+ is located on the
bootsector of this CD. Just boot from this CD and Memtest86+ will launch."

I redownloaded onto a cd and rebooted but no luck. What am I doing wrong?
Exactly what should I do?

Thanks,

Fred

Download the Zip file and unzip and make a floppy or CD/DVD then start the
computer with it.
If you don't have a burner to burn an ISO image, then it will not run.
Here is the latest ZIP file:
http://www.memtest.org/#screen

Try the instruction in the link I given to you for the thread before the RAM
test then Perform the RAM test if copying the Files to the WinDoc didn't help.
Good luck.
Let us know.

I did drag/copy those three files into the Windows Defender file. However,
I couldn't drag them into the MSASCui.exe. Dragging them just opened the
MSASCui. How else could I change their addresses to C:\Program
Files\WindowsDefender\MSASCui.exe?

Thanks.

I have installed the latest defender, ran a scan, rebooted, copied the 3
dll's into Windows Defender file. MSASCui, being an exe file, will not
accept them by dragging the dll's into the MSASCui.exe icon. Did you mean I
should open MSASCui.exe and enter something?

I still can't get Norton the recognize the dll's existence. What haven't I
done?

Fred

Hi Fred,
What about uninstalling Norton then Reinstall it, I meant uninstall Defender
and download the new Version and reinstall ( sorry I didn't mentioned don't
copy) as I thought by reinstalling Defender, it will have the sufficient
files that were missing and Norton looking for it.

Another step top do as last resort is Run the System File Checker if after
uninstalling Norton things didn't work, by opening the Run Command and type
in:
sfc /scannow click [OK]
Or foget about Windows defender as its catch rates not that great anyway
like Spybot or lavasoft freeware.

P.S Try to open MSASCui.exe and copy the files inside it.
HTH.

Hi Nass -

The answer to this common problem, which I can't find in Norton's db, is to
copy the dll's into c:\windows\system . Because this is such a widespread,
common problem (when Googled), why doesn't Norton just run a fix? They must
know.

Best regards,

Fred

Hi Fred,
Glad you sorted it out, yes, but Norton will not change their software if
there are not big number of users reporting this issue to them?.
Thanks for the feedback and good luck.

The best way to approach it this way:
Uninstall the recent Windows defender then go to this Link download and
install the new release of windows defender:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en
Make sure the Norton Turned OFF while installing Defender.
