Recently (and suddenly)I am unable to download images from
my Canon Powershot A70 (Zoom Browser). I have
successfully downloaded hundreds of images previously.I
have uninstalled and resinstalled the software several
times and keep getting this same error message:

System\Current Control Set\Control\Virtual Device
Drivers.VDD. Virtual Device Driver Format is Invalid.
Choose Close to Terminate the Application.

The Camera is detected on the Device Manager (under
Imaging) and in the Control Panel (under Scanners and
Cameras).

Anyone have a clue as to what happened and how to fix it?

Virtual Device Driver Error Message in 16-Bit MS-DOS Subsystem
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];254914

The article is pretty straight-forward. You'll need to use
regedt32.exe.regedit.exe cannot create Reg_Multi_Sz strings. If you need to
recreate the VirtualDeviceDrivers key; highlight the key (in the left-hand
pane), then Edit|Delete Then (in the left-hand pane) position the cursor on
the "Control" key, (so you'll be creating directly under "Control") then
Edit|Add Key, then for the "Key Name:"
VirtualDeviceDrivers
You can leave the "Class:" blank Then proceed with steps four through seven.

Make sure your doing this logged on as local administrator.

Dave, I found that after I posted my message.
Unfortunately I do not have or could not find
regedit32.exe file. I found regedit and the registry
files referenced in your solution.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

Yes, the file is REGEDT32.EXE and not regedit32...

Thanks

Duh!! I guess that's why I'm having problems and can't
fix it. You would think MS would have a download to fix
it automatically rather than having to edit registry
entries.

Thanks for your help!
