I've had a Canon Powershot A70 digital camera for over two years.
My preferred method of transferring pictures is with the USB cable and
Windows Explorer. You plug it in, it comes up on the left as "Canon
Powershot A70". Highlight it and your pictures come up in the right pane.
Up until two days ago, I could drag the pictures to the folder of my choice
or hightlight them, right click, pick "copy" and then paste them to
wherever. But now, when I do that, nothing happens. No errors, just nothing
happens. If I double click one of the pictures, it displays in Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer.
If I plug it into either of my other two XP computers, it works fine. If I
reboot THIS computer into Vista (ugh) it works fine.
If I take the card out and put it in my card reader, it works fine.
It's just THIS computer, running XP, and transferring with the USB cable
that I have problems with.
And for what it's worth, I have an older Sony digital camera that works the
same way, and *it* works fine too.
It uses basic Windows drivers... there are no Canon drivers.
Also it *does* allow me to delete images from the camera.
Google hasn't been my friend. Only one case of the same thing and no
resolution to it.
