Error message when using Scansoft scanning software

I have a Visioneer scanner that uses Scansoft software to make and store
scanned documents. I can make a blank document (blank page) with Scansoft.
But when I try to copy another document to the blank document I receive the
following error message and I am forced to exit the Scansoft program.

"The instruction at 0x02545fbe referenced memory at “0x02545fbe†The memory
could not be “readâ€. Click on OK to terminate the program"

This message does not appear when I copy from one document to another. It
only appears when I try to copy a document to a blank page that I haave
created with Scansoft.

I think I remember something about an update that fixed whatever this
message says is wrong. I have automatic XP updates so that fix should have
been uploaded to my computer. I also think that I specifically uploaded the
fix because for one reason or another the error message was brought to my
attention - I think it was via an email from Microsoft, but am not sure.
I own a Dell computer and am using the OEM version (2004) of XP Media
Edition.

Does anyone have any fix for this problem? Should I try reinstalling the
Scansoft software?
Thank you,
Portocar

Hi Portocar.

Did you install any new software or updates right before this started
happening? Have you checked to see if there are any more updates for
your Scansoft software? What toher software do you have open when you
get this message? Not always, but usually this type of error message
indicates some other software installed on your machine that conflicts
with the Scansoft software (in my experience anyway).
