Hello Everyone,
I have a XP pro system. Up-to-date Norton Antivirus 2005, scanned and no
virus found. When booting the system I experience a pop up dialog window
that says "Windows cannot find "then it has five squares inplace of the file
name" Make sure you typed the name correctly , click try again, to search
for a file , click start button, and then click read again.
After clicking cancel, another dialog window pops up saying "Windows cannot
find " then it has four squares inplace of the file name" in the registry.
When I click cancel two more dialog boxes pop up with similar messages but
the amount of squares inplace of the file name keep reducing 3,2,1 squares.
I looked in the applications and system event logs . No warnings or errors
reported at all. Ran a full scan disk and found errors and corrected them.
Found around 40 orphaned files and corrected them. I ran a thorough Scan
Disk. The Hard Drive platters and Sectors reported good with no
problems. This is a brand new Hard drive installed 6 months ago by me. How
can I determine what files the OS is looking for and how can I remove these
popup dialog boxes when starting. Thank you in advance. Humbly appreciate
any assistance.
