Error Message when launching MS Word 10.0

After installing Excel on my computer I now receive the following message
when attempting to launch MS Word:

Microsoft Word 10.0

An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning propertly.
Please run setup and select "Repair..." to restore application.

When I click on OK Word starts and runs without a problem. When I attempt
to run setup I'm directed to the Control Panel and told to install and
reconfigure components.
