error message when closing outlook

I'm running Windows XP and Outlook 2003.

Every single time I close Outlook I get the following error message:
Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close.

My IT guy has reinstalled Outlook twice and that didn't help.

Help please. I am SO frustrated.

What type of mail account do you have? Do you connect to an Exchange server
or are you using a PST?

Have either you or your IT guy checked the application event viewer for any
Outlook or Office-related errors?
What happens if you log onto another PC, does Outlook work for you there?
Did your IT guy do a detect and repair from the Help menu? Has he tried
deleting and recreating your Outlook profile?
If you're using a PST, has it been scanned for errors?

I do not connect to an Exchange server.
I am using PST.
Yes, checked the application event viewer and there's an error everyday when
I close Outlook to go home.
Yes, I can log onto another PC and use/close Outlook with no errors.
IT guy has removed and reinstalled Outlook twice.
I have scanned the PST for errors and repaired them.

Here's what I think is part of the problem (but I'm not sure what it means
and IT guy doesn't think it's an issue):

if you look at C:\Documents and Settings\Lizzy501\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

I have Outlook.srs AND outlook~1.srs.
My coworkers only have Outlook.srs.

I keep deleting the odd srs file and it comes back every time I open Outlook.

Do you think that could be part of the problem?

The .srs file will recreate every time you open Outlook if you delete it. You
can delete the extra one.
What is the error in the event viewer? What is the eventID and the source?
Can you open Outlook in safe mode and does it work then? Start > Run >
outlook.exe /safe
It could be an Add In or a COM that is conflicting with Outlook, running in
safe mode would disable all the Add Ins. Then you can add them back one by
one and test inbetween to find out which one it is.
Have you tried deleting and recreating the Outlook profile? I would
recommend restarting the PC after deleting the Outlook profile, then recreate
it after you log back onto the network.
