Guys:

This girl needs some help. I get the following error
message: "The device driver for the Communications Port
(COM 2) is preventing the system from entering standby.
Try re-booting your computer. If the problem persists,
you may need to update this driver."

This has been going on for a few weeks. I checked the
system config and I have COM 1 and COM 2 both named
simply as Communications Port. My modem is not on either
of these ports. My modem is an AOpen FM56-SV Soft PCI
Modem. I updated that driver and it has always worked OK.
What driver is the error message telling me to update on
COM Port 2? The system 32 driver? I do not have a device
on COM Port 2. Any ideas?

Thanks

BIOS controls which and how many on-board COM ports
are enabled (Com1 &-or Com2). Modems have their own
dedicated Com port. If you do not have any other Serial
based devices, except your modem, You need to disable the
two Com ports from inside BIOS. They will be normally
found under the "Integrated Peripherals" category. You can
toggle their settings to "Disabled". If your modem is set to
use Com3, then it was being shared with the on-board Com1.
