Error message starting all games

Mantrid

I have just upgrade my PC to:

Athlon 3200+2X 512mb DDR RAM Old Asus GeForce2 Graphics
(X4 AGP)Gigabyte K7 Triton M/Board (onboard sound)Raid HHD
80Gb (stripping)running win 2k with service pack 4

Applications run OK except games. I get the following
error message when trying to run a game (except Halflife
which works)

Message:"The procedure entry point GetRawInputDeviceInfoW
could not be located in the dynamic link library
USER32.dll"

Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it

Thanks

Is this game meant to run on your operating system, which I assume is
Windows 2000? Remember, Windows 2000 is not an Atari, and it was never
designed for games. I suggest that if you want to play games, you run
something like XP Home or a 9x OS. Either that, or an Xbox, Sega, Atari,
Commodore 64, etc. ;]

They worked fine before on win 2k
I use PC for other things as well, an X box wont manage my
accounting, wordproccessing, databases etc
And Im not buying a new OS if I know Win 2000 does work
with them
Please dont reply if you dont have a solution to the
problem

I ran depends.exe against my copy of user32.dll and it doesn't list an
entry point (function) named GetRaw<anything>.

Could be your games are designed to run on a 95-based version of Windows
and not an NT-based version.

Could be some device, like a joystick, where you installed the wrong
version of its driver on Windows 2000 (that is, you are trying to use a
95-based version instead of a newer, if available, NT-based version of
the device's driver/software). It's unlikely you are using a throttle
stick or foot peddles for applications but are using them for games.

Could be your games require a minimal version of DirectX and the
currently installed version is too low; e.g., the game wants DX8 and you
only have DX6 installed. Install the latest DirectX from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx.

Sorry, I missed the part where you specified that you had been running these
games in Windows 2000 prior to upgrading to Windows 2000.

ooh, snippy.
Anyway, this does sound like an issue with either an
incompatable or missing driver, either for an input device
(mouse, keyboard, or game device). I recommend you check
Windows Update for drivers, and/or manufacturer's
websites, expecially for your mouse and game devices. AND
motherboard, since thats what likely controls your Game
ports or USB.
