error message after start of dvd / game

after i've started playing a dvd with say power dvd or after about 2 minutes
of playing a game i get an error message saying xp had to stop the program,
no obvious reason. i've updated the latest drivers for the grasphics card.
device driver probem??

my set up:
Sapphire Radeon 9200SE 128MB DDR
Athlon XP2500 Barton
Asus A7V8X-X
512mb DDR400
Win Xp Pro

Did you check the Event Viewer logs to see if there is a reason for this
problem?

well, i had a look but there is nothing consistent, just says that the
application was closed either becasue of a fault in a random dll or hanging.

could it be a hardware problem?
