Error Message - Invalid character when ging into web pages

When I go to my default home page bigpond an error
message comes up Run time error - Invalid character Do
you wish to debug when I click yes the error message
disappears. Other times when I go to various web pages
it says script error on certain lines when I click on
debug it does not proceed and I have to cancel out

in ie tools options advanced disable script debugging and
uncheck display a notification on every script error.apply
and also disable both install on demand,apply

Make sure this is checked (assuming you are using IE):
Open IE
Go to Tools> Internet Options
Advanced Tab
4th entry below browsing section says: disable script
debugging
if not checked, check it
apply, OK
close IE
open it up

For starters, check with BigPond as they shouldn't have script errors on
their home page. Be sure to supply them with the character, line numbers
and a screen shot. Will be very helpful for them.

Other than that:

When Internet Explorer detects an error on a page it has the ability to
launch a script debugger to diagnose the problem. This setting controls the
use of the Internet Explorer script debugging functions.

Check your settings here:

IE/Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Disable Script Debugging and Display a
notification about every script error.
