The file 'schedulenews_files/Thumbs.db' exists on the destination server but
does not exist in the current Web site. Would you like FrontPage to remove
it from 'www.http://xxxx.com' (where xxxx is my domain name)?

I started getting this ANNOYING message a few weeks ago. I have a web page
called schedule&news.html, but THERE IS NO SUCH FOLDER AS SCHEDULENEWS_FILES
ON EITHER MY LOCAL MACHINE OR ON MY WEB SERVER. I've deleted every possible
thumbs.db file from both places but, apparently, FrontPage hides a folder for
every web page. Unfortunately, Microsoft techs in the forums swear that it
does not.

Please admit that it does and let us all know how to deal with these phantom
thumbs.db files that don't exist.

Thanks.

Actually FrontPage hides a reference to every page in the files in the _vti folders.
It also maintains a file named doctodep and deptodoc for each website which is how
it knows to update hyperlinks when you move or rename files.

It also maintains a .web file for each web and each web location.
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download the
FP Cleaner utility and run the function that clears the Cache{.web} files and
also the function that clears the FrontPage Temporary files.

Then see if the issue is fixed.

Thumbs.db is generated by Windows Explorer every time you open a
folder in thumbnail view. Do not open FP webs in Windows Explorer, or
set Win Explorer to not cache thumbnails (Tools->Folder Options - View
tab)
Use Windows Explorer to search for and delete all instances of
Thumbs.db from your PC - the files will be regenerated if they are
needed, and unless you have thousands of images in one folder or a
very slow PC, IMO they are not needed.

The schedulenews_files folder is always hidden in FrontPage, and is
generated when you use VML graphics (WordArt, ShapeArt, TextBoxes etc.
from the Drawing Toolbar). pagename_files folders are also generated
when you use Word or other Office application to generate HTML pages.
Note that VML graphics should be avoided in a publicly accessible web
site, since they only display in IE5.5 and later. Other browsers see
a poor quality .gif image (stored in pagename_files folder) or nothing
at all.
