Error message during setup of XP pro (OEM)

Chris

This is the message I get towards the end (after
activation of network components):
COM+ exception during installation OC_COMPLETE_INSTALLATION

d:\nt\com\com1x\src\complussetup\comsetup\ccompluscore.ccp
(line 565) error code = 0x80040206

--> impossible to register the event classes COM+

I can finish the installation but after the first login XP
gives an error message 'RPC encountered an unknown error'
and the PC reboots. After rebooting XP rechecks the
material before giving the login screen. After the next
login I get this message:
Generic host process for Win32 has encountered a problem
and must be stopped.

This is the second time I try to install XP pro on this
particular PC and I am at my wits' end.

Please help !!

I would start with making sure you are starting with a reformatted hard drive and
that you are installing with no network. The "encountered an unknown error' and the
PC reboots." is the exact symptom of the blaster worm that has gotten so much press
lately.

I've finally managed to install without error messages by
choosing FAT32 formatting for my harddisk. So far so good.

But now XP gives me trouble with the graphic card
(Hercules 3D Prophet 9700), although I used the original
CD from Hercules. Unfortunately, their Driver-Site is
unavailable for an update. What do you suggest?
