After recently purchasing a new laptop i have been trying to connect it to my
home network but with limited sucess...

I can access the router and can access my broadband connection but i cannot
access the other computers on the network to share files and my printer..

I have the other two computers networked ok and can share all files and the
printer but this new computer just does not seem to want to connect to the
home network for whatever reason.

I have performed a scan using the network diagnostics tool in the help and
support center and it shows the network adapter has failed when it comes to
the IP address the information is pasted below..

IPAddress = 192.168.1.100 (FAILED)
Pinging 192.168.1.100 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Ping statistics for 192.168.1.100:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss)
IPConnectionMetric = 25

Does anybody know how to correct this problem ???

Regards

Rog

Rog,

Please provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, as a
start. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely:

The computer is unable to ping the IP address of its own network
adapter. That indicates a serious problem with the network hardware
or software configuration.

One possible cause is an improperly configured firewall program, such
as Norton Internet Security, ZoneAlarm, etc. If your computer has a
firewall program, make sure that it's configured to allow access by
computers on the local area network.

Another possible cause is a corrupted network connection. In that
case, the solution is to un-install and re-install the network adapter
used by the LAN connection.
