Don't be too hard on yourself - you're only dumb if you have a problem and
ignore it.
Nobody in this forum was pre-programmed with all the answers.
The problem is basically that between your computer and the computer
(server) where your e-mail is the connection has broken. This can happen for
a number of reasons - even if you are merily surfing.
Just a question though - are you using Outlook Express or Outlook.
(If you are not sure you can go to the help menu and click onto "About" .
I suspect, that you are using Outlook Express
Sorry if this sounds a bit helpdesky,
Are you using Hotmail?
If yes log back onto Hotmail using the web version
Or a POP3 Account (one provided by your Internet Provider) - If you are not
using it at the location where your account is based - you probably will not
be able to access your account via Outlook - but usually your ISP will have a
webmail version.
Which Operating System are you using (Click on Start > Run > Winver > Ok)
Remember to include the service pack
Do you have an anti-virus program integrated in your email application?
I don't normally like giving answers without having all the info, but here
is one possibility.....
If you are using a POP3 account:
Try the following.
1. Start Outlook.
2. Click in the Tools menu on E-mailaccounts.
3. Click on view or change existing e-mail accounts and click on next
4. Click on add
5.Click on POP3 and click on next
6. Retype the correct details for your POP3 server
7. Click on finish
Let me know the other details if this doesn't work.
good luck,
Chris
