Error Message after loading XP SP3 Service Pack

I try to keep my Dell Vostro Laptop computer up to date by using Auto Update.
The last auto update loaded SP3. Since then I keep getting these error
messages:

CmSNXwye.eye - Application Error

"The instruction at "0x77c2a61d" referenced memory at'0x00000004". The
memory could not be "written".
Click Ok to terminate the program."

I don't know what this means and I don't know hpw to fix or stop it. Can
anyone help please?

Sam, I'm getting the same message. In fact, when I first downloaded the
update, it killed my computer and only after 5-6 reboots did it come back to
life.

Have you gotten any feedback on your question yet? It's driving me crazy!

Hallie, yours is the only response. After a bit of investigation (and lots
of luck) I found that the error related to the program which activated my
Targus docking station at startup. It seems that the SP3 fix somehow
corrupted the registry. I reloaded the driver and ran Uniblue Registry
Booster 2 to clwanup the registry and this semmed to fix it.

Good luck with your problem.

Hi Sam and Hallie, I too am getting this error and have a Targus notebook
dock. It started after downloading service pack 3. I deleted and
reinstalled the targus driver, but that hasn't helped, what's more is my
speakers won't work anymore. Doesn't matter if I plug them into the dock or
the computer itself. I have a presario v6000 series laptop. I know you
recommended a registry cleaner, but I'm reluctant to spend the money. Do you
think that's the solution? Have the errors stayed away for good? Thanks.

Eddy, Sam & Hallie, I have the same problem. I reloaded the driver and
lost my sound. Eddy what did you do to get your sound back????

I never got my sound back. Speaker work when I plug them into my laptop
directly, but not when I plug them into the dock.

Eddy, I got my sound back. I figured out that you cannot reinstall the
Targus driver with the computer plugged into the docking station. Unplug
your docking station from the computer. Then uninstall the Targus software.
Then reinstall. After computer reboots, THEN plug your docking station back
in and you'll have sound.

EddyC, You should also go into "my Computer" then "Control Sounds & Audio
Devices" then go to the "Audio" tab. Under "Sound Playback" sect the
alternative other than "C-Media USB Sound Device." The C-Media USB Sound
Device comes from the Targus software - do not use it and you should be fine.
At least I hope so. Worked for me. Let me know.
