using 1.5 yr old dell 4600, xp home, sp2, 3 gig pent iv, 512mb ram, ie 6.0.
all secutity updates current. norton 2004 AV. 3 users. all have admin
privileges.
i was trying to access my dell express service code thru start>programs>dell
accessories>express service code. (target file name: express.exe)
i receive an error box titled:
16 bit windows subsystem
message:
c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running
ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. chose "close" to terminate the
application.
close ignore
i also get this message when trying to install the game "the sims"
i searched & file 'autoexec.nt' was not found in the system 32 folder
but 2 were found, 1 in each folder:
c:\I386
c:\WINDOWS\REPAIR
when i access the express.exe on my 98se machine, it appears to open a dos
window (no right click & no top buttons). is it possible that the
express.exe opens a dos window? & game too?
any ideas on what's going on & how to repair?
thank you, len kiesling
